There is real affection in the way one scaly-breasted lorikeet tends to the other, gently and taking its time, while the second leans in and lets itself be cared for. One of them is enjoying the fussing and the other is enjoying being fussed over, and it is hard to say which is getting more out of it. It is the same as all the small things we do for the people we love without being asked, the ones that never get mentioned but are always felt. My Lorikeet Painting is made of those moments, the quiet ones that go unremarked and keep people close.
Selected as a finalist for the Ipswich Art Awards in 2023.
The original is oil on museum grade gessoboard, signed on the front, framed and ready to hang. One of a kind, at 405 by 305mm, which makes it a lovely first original for a smaller wall.
The same image is offered as an open edition wall art print for a more affordable option. If you would like to see how this one came together, I wrote about the making of it on the blog. For a couple, an anniversary, an engagement, or a thank you that should last, this Lorikeet Painting says something a card cannot.

- If a wall preview would make the decision easier, I can create one from a photo of the room
