He has a sunflower and he is not giving it back. Sulphur-crested cockatoos have been raiding Australian gardens for as long as there have been Australian gardens, and every household that has lost fruit, seed or a whole veranda railing to one will recognise the expression exactly. It is a cheerful thing to walk past in the morning.
They can live past seventy, which means some of the birds shouting from suburban trees today have outlived the people who first put seed out for them. They also work out latches, bins and most things you think are shut. A sunflower posed him no difficulty at all.
The original oil painting exists only once. This Bird Wall Art print is the way the same theft reaches a kitchen, a breakfast nook or anywhere a household would enjoy being reminded of the local menace.
Orders are printed on archival fine art paper individually, none held in advance. The smaller and medium sizes are printed in my Brisbane studio, and the largest by a specialist fine art printer with a wider press than mine.
