Yes, almost always. When I started painting again, the first painting I made came from a reference I found online, and it bothered me afterwards. The image belonged to somebody else, so the painting wasn't entirely mine either. I began photographing my own references soon after that, and I've worked that way ever since. The birds, wildlife and landscapes in my paintings are places and moments I've stood in and photographed myself, often built into a composition from several of my own images.

Oil on canvas for my original paintings. I've worked in oils since I taught myself to paint and have stayed with them, largely for the depth of colour and the way they let me build an image slowly, in layers. Yes. I offer greeting cards made from my paintings, and a small range of watercolours. They're a lovely, affordable way to live with the work.

My limited edition prints are made on archival museum grade canvas using archival pigment inks. They're produced here in Australia by a fine art specialist printer and colour matched to my original painting, so what arrives is genuine collector's wall art, not a mass market poster.

The exact brand of canvas and ink can vary depending on which fine art specialist produces a particular run, but the standard doesn't change. I only work with printers using archival materials, chosen to hold their colour and detail for the long term rather than to fade within a few years.

My open edition prints are made on archival fine art paper. The small, medium and large sizes are printed by me, by hand, in my Brisbane studio, which means I can watch the quality of every single one. The extra large sizes go beyond what my studio printer can handle, so those are produced for me by a fine art specialist printer.

Most of my paper prints are on archival paper of around 300gsm, which gives them a substantial, gallery quality feel. My specialist printer uses a different archival paper for the extra large sizes, also around 300gsm. A few works are printed on a textured paper of roughly the same weight where the surface suits the work better. My watercolour art prints, for example, are digital prints on textured paper of approximately 298gsm, chosen because the texture sits closer to the feel of the original watercolour.

Every print goes through the same careful process so it stays true to the original:

1. Once a painting is finished, my fine art specialist captures it with professional scanning and photography under lighting built for large artworks.
2. The image is processed and calibrated so the colour and detail mirror the original as closely as possible.
3. We produce test proofs and compare them against the painting itself until I'm certain it's right.
4. It's printed on the chosen material and checked before it's packed and sent to you.

It's a slow process by design. I'd rather it be right than fast.

I colour match every print to the original as closely as possible. Please bear in mind that screens vary from device to device, so the colours you see online may differ slightly from the final print. That difference comes down to digital displays and can't be fully controlled, but the physical print is always matched to the painting, not to a screen.

Limited edition prints are made in the same size as the original painting, on canvas only. Open edition paper prints come in a range of sizes, and I can produce custom sizes on request, so just get in touch.

Prints don't come framed by default, so you're free to choose a frame that suits your space. If you'd prefer it framed, I'm happy to arrange that. Reach out and we'll sort out what works for you.

That depends on the option you choose for canvas prints:

• Rolled arrives rolled in a tube, ready for you to have professionally stretched or framed.
• Stretched arrives already stretched on timber bars with a string on the back, ready to hang straight away. This isn't the same as framing, as no external frame is included.

Keep the work out of direct sunlight and away from damp or heat. An oil painting can be dusted gently with a dry, soft brush, and a canvas print the same way. Never use water, cleaning sprays or solvents on either. Paper prints are best framed behind glass or acrylic, which protects the surface and keeps the colours stable. Yes. The site runs entirely over HTTPS, and card payments go directly to Shopify Payments and PayPal, so I never see or store your full card number. I'm the only person with standing access to the store's admin.

I collect only what's needed to get your artwork to you and issue a tax invoice, and you can browse the site and look at the artwork without telling me who you are. I don't sell customer information and I don't share it with data brokers.
