Morning Chores - Lorikeet Art, Original Oil Painting

"My Lorikeet Art piece, Morning Chores, came from references I gathered at Sherwood Arboretum, two rainbow lorikeets preening on an ordinary Queensland morning. I reworked the light deliberately so the whole thing glows, because the feeling I was after was an easy morning where nothing needs doing quickly.

It carried that mood well enough to be exhibited at the Nature's Beauty Exhibition in 2021. The original is oil on canvas, hand signed, and it has found its collector.

The warmth of it did not leave with the painting. You can still own the exact image as a hand signed, numbered limited edition print, supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity, the same unhurried morning at a gentler price. A piece this colourful tends to become a fixture rather than a phase, and it makes a generous gift for someone setting up a first home. Sherwood Arboretum is a twenty minute drive from my studio and I have gathered more references there than anywhere else, so this painting is genuinely local in a way that matters to me. Lorikeets preen each other constantly, and it is the least dignified and most affectionate thing they do.
