Two magpies sing to each other across the purple jacaranda blossom while the light stays soft and the morning takes its time. The song is one we hear most mornings without thinking about it, but under a jacaranda in flower it belongs to a season that comes around once and is gone within weeks. Most of us have woken to this countless times, and it has gathered up a lifetime of good mornings along the way. My Magpie Painting is the sound of that Australian spring feeling, and I suspect many Australians will live it again every time they walk past.
Selected as a finalist and hung at the Brisbane Rotary Art Show in 2025.
The original is oil on linen canvas, signed on the front, framed in oak and ready to hang. One of a kind.
The same image is offered as a numbered limited edition canvas print in an edition of 25, each supplied with a Certificate of Authenticity I sign myself, and once those 25 are placed the edition closes for good. An open edition wall art print is also available. Only the original exists in paint. Spring, jacaranda and birdsong make this Magpie Painting a lovely way to mark a new season or a fresh start for someone.
