A lorikeet in the hollow of an old tree stump, on clean white, and that is the entire picture. Every Australian has watched one of these disappear into a hollow and pop back out again. It is the most ordinary thing in the world and it never stops being good, which is precisely why it belongs on a kitchen or hallway wall.
Lorikeets nest in hollows and defend them with an enthusiasm entirely out of proportion to their size. They are part of the daily furniture of life here, loud at dawn, loud at dusk, and somehow always forgiven.
This Lorikeet Watercolour is one of a small group of watercolours in the collection, and they were meant to be seen together. There is a piece on my blog about bringing the outdoors inside if that is what you are after.
Nothing is printed until it is ordered, and it is printed on archival fine art paper. The smaller and medium sizes are printed by me in Brisbane, and the largest by a specialist fine art printer whose press takes wider sheets than mine. Every Lorikeet Watercolour print is matched to the original sheet first.
