Piggyback Baby - Possum Print, Limited Edition of 25

She is carrying him on her back and he has no doubt at all that she will keep doing it. Anyone who has carried a child, or been carried, understands the whole painting before they have finished looking. It is the piece people buy when something in their family has just changed, and it tends to stay up long after the child in question has grown out of being carried.

Ringtail possums do this for about six weeks and then never again. Six weeks out of a whole life, which is why I sat very still when I found them and did not move until they had gone.

Twenty five of this Possum Print exist and no more will be made. Each is numbered, and the edition closes for good once they are placed. The original oil painting was a finalist at the Brisbane Rotary Art Show in 2025 and hangs in one home only. There is also an open edition paper print of the same image.

Printed in Australia on museum grade canvas and colour matched against the painting so the fur keeps its softness rather than flattening. It arrives ready to hang, with a Certificate of Authenticity signed and numbered by me. A Possum Print like this is meant to be handed on.
