She is carrying him on her back, and he has absolutely no doubt that she will keep doing it. That is the whole painting. Anyone who has carried a child, or been carried, understands it before they have finished looking, and it is a very good thing to have on a wall in a house where people love each other.
Ringtail possums do this for about six weeks and then never again. Six weeks out of a whole life, which is why I sat very still when I found them and did not move until they had gone.
The original oil painting was a finalist at the Brisbane Rotary Art Show in 2025 and exists only once. There is also a hand signed limited edition of twenty five. This Possum Wall Art print is how the same moment reaches a nursery wall, a hallway, or a house that has just got bigger by one.
Each print is run on archival fine art paper after you order, not before. I print the smaller and medium sizes in my Brisbane studio, and a specialist fine art printer takes the largest on a press wider than mine. Both are matched to the original before your Possum Wall Art is packed.
